Kosmos Private Resort's three unique wooden buildings are examples of Nordic wood construction, where modern architecture meets Finnish nature. Each building offers privacy, tranquillity and culturally enriching experiences for the most discerning guests.
"After the years spent in Silicon Valley, a longing arose to return to Kontiolahti. After moving to Finland, we wanted to build a meeting place around the old family farm, which would serve as an exhibition space for modern wood construction, design and craftsmanship, and create an inspiring setting for various events.
This is how the Kosmos collection and Kosmos Private Resort were born.

Kontiolahti is located 20 minutes from Joensuu airport and train station. The drive to Kontiolahti from Helsinki takes just over 5 hours.
AN INTERDISCIPLINARY EXPERIENCE
The Kosmos facilities, built by Field Studies Oy, are a gem of Finnish design and modern wooden construction in eastern Finland, 20 minutes from Joensuu airport and train station.
The high quality finishes make it ideal for various corporate training and recreational events, representation and press events, and as a meeting place for visitors.
COSMOS COLLECTION
USVA-HOUSE COMBINES THE TRADITIONAL AND THE NEW
The Usva House combines the traditional with the new. The pillar-beam method, cherished by the French builders' guild, meets cross-laminated CLT material in the finished roof and wall constructions.
The building was designed by Ateljé Sotamaa and the burnt cladding board, using the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban technique, gives the building a beautiful living surface.
METEORITE - A MASTERPIECE OF WOODEN ARCHITECTURE
The Meteorite House, designed by Ateljé Sotamaa, is a masterpiece of modern wooden architecture that has received a lot of attention in the national and international media. The house is an experiment in the use of wood as a form and material, which has generated many ideas for further development.
The building, made up of five interconnected spaces, is 12 metres high and has an internal volume of 700 cubic metres. The windows of the building are positioned so as to provide a view of the surrounding countryside.
UFO DESIGN COTTAGE
The UFO mini-house is a mobile design cottage that does not need permanent foundations. In the future of tourism construction, the value of investment will be preserved when entire villages of cottages can be moved from one place to another without damaging the land.
