Raattama is located about an hour's drive from Kittilä airport and a good hour's drive from Enontekiö charter airport.

EXCURSION TO THE MONTELLI HUT

Justus Montell (1869-1954), a forester, built the hut for his botanical and zoological expeditions. The building was burnt down by the Germans in the autumn of 1944. The reindeer herders of Raattama and Keräs-Sieppi built a new one in 1946 and today the hut is a base for the reindeer herders of Raattama and a popular Instagram location.

Metsähallitus has built a fireplace hut next to the original Montellinmaja, where it is nice to retreat to barbeque sausages and drink hot juice after a good 3 km climb.

The valley between Keräskero, Vuontiskero and Saivokero is the number one destination for many visitors. The most spectacular views in the area are of the Pallastunturi, if you take the courage to climb a short distance along the route towards Hetta or head towards the ridge before Nammala.

CHECK OUT THE SERVICES

Experiences are made to be found and life is made to be enjoyed. Below you'll find the best tips on what the region has to offer, from dining to shopping.

HUSKY

A visit to a husky park and a drive through the snowy forest are on every traveller's bucket list. The joy of the dogs is palpable when they get to run through the glimmering snowy forest.

snowmobiling

VISIT

In Lapland, the snowmobile is a reindeer herders' daily tool and part of the local way of life. The sledging routes are well defined and there are restrictions on sledging, especially in the National Park area.

POROT

Reindeer are a part of Lappish life and almost every local has his or her own reindeer. Reindeer are always someone's property, even if they roam free in the wild. A visit to a reindeer farm gives you the chance to get to know the local way of living more in depth and to meet and greet these semi-wild domestic animals.

EXCLUSION

Lapland's nature offers a wide range of outdoor activities all year round. The seasons rhythm life in the north and the Arctic forces of nature sometimes surprise even the most experienced hikers.

KELO RESORT

HIGHLIGHT OF THE VISIT

A visit to Santa's secret hideaway is a magical experience for visitors young and adults likewise. The visit is crowned with a small gift and gingerbread baking with the elves.

AN OUTDOORSMAN'S PARADISE

Ski trails from the hotel yard lead visitors towards the marked trails of Ahovaara and Lake Vuontisjärvi. The Fell Lapland Tour signs lead hikers towards the Hetta-Pallas hiking trail, which offers the most spectacular views of the whole of Tunturi-Lap towards the Pallas mountain range with its majestic mountain huts.

DISCOVER THE LOCAL WAY OF LIFE

Go on a adventure with snowshoes or snowshoes and pack traditional hiker food in your backbag; barbeque sausages, buns and hot juice. A local fisherman will take you on an ice fishing trip on the frozen Lake Jerisjärvi and tell you stories about Sámi culture and the fells.

The sheer silence of the forest, the beauty of the landscape and the purity of the air are enough to stun the visitor. Here you are far from the hustle and bustle of the big centres. This is the best place for a human being to be.
